“There have been times, lately, when I dearly wished that I could change the past. Well, I can’t, but I can change the present, so that when it becomes the past it will turn out to be a past worth having.” - T. Pratchett

I began my work in human services in 2001 with Easter Seals Camps for Children with Disabilities as a camp counsellor. I ended up doing three summers. I discovered I particularly enjoyed working with children with behavioural challenges and worked privately as a contract caregiver in Victoria until I moved to the Kootenays for snow and a girl.
I worked in mental health and addictions services as an outreach worker until I returned to school to complete my Bachelor of Social Work with Child Welfare specialization.
During my first year practicum, I fell in love with high-risk youth and family work. On graduation, I realized that MCFD had cornered the market with high-risk families and began my eight years of front-line work during which I excelled at working collaboratively with clients, solving problems outside of Court and finding ways to connect with vulnerable and service-resistant families and clients.

Eventually, it became clear to me that I was either going to have to commit to being in leadership or move on to private practice. I moved back to Victoria and opened my private practice in 2023.
